Methodology
GentleFuel is a small, independent UK publisher. Buying guidance only — we do not give medical advice. Here is how each page on the site is produced.
Scope
- UK-stocked products only, with realistic delivery and availability.
- Three content areas: gut-friendly nutrition (including low-FODMAP), walking pads and under-desk treadmills, and low-impact home wellness products.
- No medical, therapeutic or diagnostic claims.
How we compare products
Every product we recommend goes through the same five checks. We share our notes on the page so you can decide for yourself.
- UK availability. Reliably stocked at a UK retailer at the time of last check, with realistic delivery windows.
- Price and value. Real per-use cost — for nutrition we calculate pence per serving and pence per gram of protein; for walking pads we factor in motor warranty and replacement parts.
- Specs that matter. The numbers that affect everyday use: motor noise, deck size, weight limit, maximum speed, ingredients, allergens, sweeteners, whey type.
- Suitability. Who the product is and isn't for — flats with thin floors, sensitive digestion, standing desks, smaller homes, heavier or taller users.
- Last checked. Every product page records the date we last verified its price and spec.
Category-specific checks
Gut-friendly nutrition
- Whey type. We note isolate, hydrolysate, concentrate, plant or mixed. Isolate and hydrolysate generally contain less lactose than concentrate.
- Sweeteners. We flag polyols (sorbitol, mannitol, xylitol) and high-dose inulin or chicory root, all commonly avoided on a low-FODMAP eating pattern.
- Per-serving price. Calculated in pence per gram of protein and per standard 30 g serving.
Walking pads & under-desk treadmills
- Noise floor. Manufacturer dB rating plus a note on motor type.
- Deck and frame. Walking surface size, max user weight, foldability and storage footprint.
- Use case fit. Standing-desk pace vs sit-stand desk vs flat use; we note when a pad is unsuitable for taller or heavier walkers.
How content is produced
- Keyword research and topic clustering by an internal pipeline.
- A brief is created for each cluster and reviewed before drafting.
- A draft is produced with AI assistance against the brief.
- Automated checks run (thin content, missing disclosure, suspicious health claims).
- A human reviews and either approves, edits, or rejects the draft.
- Only then can the page be published.
Nothing publishes without a human approving it. We refresh published pages on a schedule and prune pages that no longer hold up.
What we don't do
- We don't diagnose or treat. If you need medical advice, talk to a registered dietitian or your GP.
- We don't auto-publish AI drafts.
- We don't run aggressive scrapers or copy third-party content.
- We don't accept paid placement or sponsored picks in our guides.
